How to read your birth chart

A birth chart (natal chart) is a map of where every planet stood at the exact moment and place you were born. It includes your Sun sign, Moon sign, rising sign (ascendant), and the zodiac positions of Mercury through Pluto — together they describe far more of your personality than the Sun sign alone.
Do I need my exact birth time?
Only for the rising sign and house placements — the ascendant changes sign roughly every two hours. Your Sun, Mercury, Venus and outer planets are accurate with just the date. The Moon moves about 13 degrees a day, so on days when it changed signs an exact time matters.
